Recognition Express creates operations role to propel business into 2020s and beyond

Chris Masters has been promoted to the new role of operations director at the Bardon-based headquarters of Recognition Express as the franchisor gears up for future growth and development.

Recognition Express, which celebrates its 40-year anniversary in 2019, employs a ten-strong head office team to support its thriving UK-wide network of 38 franchisees. Chris’ responsibilities now include leading and motivating his head office colleagues as well as mentoring franchise owners.

He will regularly meet with individual franchisees to conduct business review meetings, offering advice and support rooted in his extensive experience of the franchise industry. He’ll also drive new marketing initiatives, systems and processes to develop and modernise the brand, further strengthening its market position.

The depth and breadth of Chris’ skills and his familiarity with franchising makes him the ideal person to take on this leadership role, according to Nigel Toplis, MD of Recognition Express’ parent company The Bardon Group.

“Chris first joined Recognition Express in 2002, so he pre-dates me and many of the franchise owners,” Nigel explains. “He’s held various roles at head office, but also had a stint working directly for one of the franchisees. This experience both sides of the fence gives him a valuable perspective and over the years he’s had some remarkable successes. I can’t think of anyone better to engage and nurture our franchisees, while ensuring head office continues to offer valuable and relevant support.”

Chris previously held the head of operations role for seven years. The promotion to operations director gives him more autonomy to implement ideas to enhance the efficiency and performance of the franchise network.

“I’ve spent most of my working life at Recognition Express, with roles across production, sales, technical support and procurement as well as operations,” says Chris. “This gives me the insight and understanding to identify areas where improvements can be made to keep the network running smoothly and successfully. I’m looking forward to introducing new initiatives and securing opportunities to make the Recognition Express proposition more attractive than ever for customers, employees and franchisees alike.”
