OVEN VALETER MARKS 1,000TH CLEAN WITH SCHOOL DONATION

St Peter Port businessman Chris Robilliard has marked his 1,000th oven valet with a special donation to La Mare de Carteret Primary School.

To mark this important milestone for his business, Ovenu, Chris has carried out a free professional valet on the school’s oven.

The oven was recently presented to La Mare de Carteret Primary by its Parent Teacher Association (PTA) along with a brand new kitchen. The Kitchen is used by the PTA for functions as well as for cookery classes as part of the Design Technology curriculum.

Pupils aged between four and 11 years regularly get to try out their culinary skills using the oven, which has left it requiring a good clean! The oven is also used by the PTA for association’s functions.

Chris Robilliard launched his Ovenu business in 2004. He is part of a UK-wide network of Ovenu franchisees, which provide professional oven valeting services to more than 100,000 households nationwide.

In just over two years Chris has established a successful business with a loyal base of regular customers who prefer to employ a professional rather than take on one of Britain’s most hated household chores.

Ovenu’s environmentally-friendly valeting service involves dismantling key components of an oven such as the door, interior panels, fan and shelves and placing them into design-registered equipment, which uses non-caustic products to clean the oven parts.

The whole process takes around three hours and leaves the oven, hob and exterior in immaculate condition. Equally important, a regular valet extends the life of the appliance and makes it more efficient.

Mr Kevin Hinshaw, head teacher of La Mare de Carteret Primary School, said: “The children love the cooking classes, but through their enthusiasm the oven tends to get encrusted with the contents of a few of their dishes! We really appreciate Chris providing his service free of charge as it will certainly help our oven last longer and give many more pupils some culinary experience.”

Chris Robilliard said: “I wanted to do something special to mark my 1,000th valet and the school’s oven seemed the ideal opportunity. The people of Guernsey have helped me make a real success of my business and I was keen to put something back into the community.”

Householders in Guernsey who feel their oven is in need of a valet and would like to help Chris reach his next milestone can contact him on 0870 880 1222.
