Business groups across the UK are today celebrating as Business for Breakfast (BforB), the UK’s first home grown referral marketing franchise, reaches a landmark fifteenth anniversary since its first, ground-breaking, networking meeting.
Founded in 2001, the same year as the launch of the original iPod and Wikipedia, Business for Breakfast soon grew a reputation as the most innovative referral marketing company in the UK, quickly adding ladies only groups, specialist industry groups and meetings throughout the day to cater for a variety of business and entrepreneurs needs.
Over the 15 years, the network has supported businesses across just about every business sector, passing hundreds-of-millions of pounds worth of business to members as a result of referral marketing activities.
One of the founders of BforB, Mel Fisher, remembers back to when it all began; “There’s been a huge amount of change in the last fifteen years. Back in 2001, we were coming to the end of the dot com boom and we were three years away from Facebook being founded, so the social media revolution was yet to be widely adopted.
“It’s been a fascinating journey and our constant drive to innovate and adapt to a changing business landscape has meant that BforB has always been able to stay ahead of the curve.”
Having proven its value in the UK business community, BforB has since exported its referral marketing format to Europe and Australia, with further international markets keen to also adopt Business for Breakfast in the coming year.
Mel Fisher adds; “Everything we do is aimed at creating an environment where business owners and entrepreneurs can meet and build trust to support each other in a drive to mutually grow and develop. It’s this sense of common purpose and cooperation that drives our members to pass quality referrals rather than be forced to hand over poor quality leads. It’s a format that really works.”
With an ongoing drive to stay at the forefront of referral marketing, the Business for Breakfast network has now initiated a new innovation drive which is adding member training through a new Referral Academy, new systems and programmes including the new app and member support programmes to create an even more effective forum through which members can pass quality referrals.
