Franchising – A route to self-employment

The Franchise Alliance, are a company providing educational seminars nationally held an evening seminar at the Crowne Plaza NEC, in Birmingham on Tuesday 11th July 2006.

The franchising seminar was well attended with 28 people from the surrounding area who came along to look at whether franchising could be their route to self-employment. Out of the attendees at the event just over nearly 20% were women. This number of female attendees highlights the growing market for women looking to step out of employment and to start their own businesses.

The theme of the event is to look at what franchising can offer to people thinking of starting their own business.

Key Elements a franchise can offer:

A proven business system to follow
An opportunity to change career direction or return to the work environment as a good franchisor will provide effective training in their business system.
The opportunity in certain franchises for a flexible or part-time business that can be run from home.
The support of fellow franchisees, who are running the same business.
A Franchisor providing ongoing support to help with any problems provide training and look at future business development.
There was also the chance for the attendees to mix with Franchisors and hear about what finance is available from banks, such as NatWest. The attendee’s commercial knowledge of franchising was widening by being able to speak to some franchisors.

The comments of some of the attendees at previous events in 2006:

‘’Enjoyed the session, opened my eyes to other options and was a good opportunity to speak to people in the franchise world.’’

‘’Great overview of what’s available in franchising’’

‘’This was a superb professional seminar – extremely well organised & presented. I would recommend it to anyone interested in franchising without hesitation.’’

‘’The seminar was enlightening and very professionally prepared and done.’’

The Franchise Alliance & NatWest continues to run weekly seminars throughout 2006 for anyone looking at self-employment and seeing franchising as an option.
