Family man takes on oven valeting challenge
Family man Pete Silvester has taken on a new challenge, launching Ovenu’s professional oven valeting service in Dunstable and the surrounding areas.
Pete, who has three grown-up children, was attracted to the Ovenu franchise by the prospect of being his own boss and having more control over his work and social life.
He previously spent 24 years making Coca-Cola and, after a further two years as a baggage handler at Luton Airport, Pete, 44, decided to make the permanent move away from shift work.
Pete was attracted to Ovenu’s environmentally-friendly oven valeting process, which involves dismantling key components of an oven including the door, interior panels, fan and shelves.
These parts are then placed into design-registered equipment that uses non-caustic products to clean the oven parts.
The whole process takes around three hours and leaves the oven, hob and exterior in immaculate condition.
Pete said: “I wanted a job that would allow me more free time to spend with my family and when I read about the Ovenu franchise I knew it was the right path for me.
“Being your own boss can bring so much job satisfaction. Even though you get a lot of support from Ovenu, you know it’s your own hard-work and achievement that makes the business a success.
“I’m looking forward to taking on that responsibility and even more so to having more days out with my wife.”
Rik Hellewell, managing director of Ovenu, says: “Last year, Ovenu commissioned a survey which revealed that cleaning the oven is Britain’s most hated household chore, second only to cleaning the toilet.
“People just don’t have the time to carry out mundane tasks such as cleaning the oven. This need has been highlighted by our success in other areas of the UK and I’m sure that the Dunstable public will take up the service.”
