What is a franchise resale?
A franchise resale is when an existing franchisee wishes to sell their franchise and move on. There are many reasons for a franchisee wishing to resell their franchise, sometimes it is because the franchise has not performed but it could also be a change in personal circumstances, death or they are presented with another opportunity they wish to pursue. Another reason for a resale is what some franchise consultants call franchisee fatigue. This is when a franchisee has run the franchise for some time and has perhaps lost the motivation they had on launching the business and wishes to capitalise on their investment and pursue a new career direction. Generally franchisors have systems in place to handle franchise resales as it is in everyone's interest to find a suitable purchaser to continue to develop the franchise territory.
