"We appreciate all of the efforts from Round Table Pizza, its employees, franchisees and suppliers who have supported Children's Hospital through the golf tournament, auctions and raffle," said Suzanne Beauregard. On October 24th, Round Table Family Charities, a non-profit corporation that provides support to organizations that aid families in crisis, hosted its first annual Golf Tournament, dinner and auction at the Blackhawk Country Club in Danville, California. Over $180,000 was raised at this event and will be earmarked for Children's Hospital & Research Center Oakland through a contribution to the Children's Miracle Network, a non-profit organization that raises funds for 175 affiliated children's hospitals.
The event also marked the culmination of a series of activities that Round Table Pizza undertook to raise an additional $70,000 for Children's Miracle Network, bringing the total fundraising effort to $250,000. All monies will be applied directly to the treatment of diseases and injuries affecting millions of children.
Round Table Pizza's President and Chief Operating Officer, Rob McCourt, this is Round Table Family Charities' first effort at putting on a charity golf tournament. "We are just so pleased with the amount of money we were able to raise," said Mr. McCourt. "The idea for the golf tournament was inspired in May of this year when an employee's grandson had successful heart surgery at Children's Hospital Oakland.
We were able to put the golf tournament, dinner and auction together in just five months. I was genuinely impressed by the efforts of the volunteers. Over 500 employee volunteer hours went into the actual event and a countless number of hours went in to preparation. It was great to see our company and its franchisees and suppliers rally behind such a worthy cause."
Lamar Williams, Director of Business Development for Children's Miracle Network was equally impressed by Round Table Pizza's efforts. "I have worked with many companies over the years to raise funds, but I have never seen so much success in a regional player like this. It takes a great deal of effort to raise $250,000."
"We appreciate all of the efforts from Round Table Pizza, its employees, franchisees and suppliers who have supported Children's Hospital through the golf tournament, auctions and raffle," said Suzanne Beauregard, Director, Sponsorship & Cause Marketing for Children's Hospital & Research Center Foundation. "We could not do the work that we do for the thousands of sick and injured children and their families from throughout Northern California and beyond who come to Children's Hospital Oakland without the ongoing contribution of time, people and dollars from organizations such as Round Table Pizza."
Leading up to the golf tournament in September, Round Table Pizza restaurants sold Children's Miracle Network balloons to the community to raise funds. The top three restaurant manager's received recognition at the golf event. Two managers from the same organization, Deron Dabritz of Oakhurst, California and Mike Carlson of Arnold, California, challenged each other to see who could sell the most. With $131 advantage, Deron edged out Mike, 2,129 balloons to 2,016. Dennis Fees, who manages the Pacific Beach Round Table Pizza in San Diego, California, came in third place selling 1,977 balloons.
Round Table Pizza established Round Table Family Charities to provide support to organizations that aid families in crisis. The charity organization's focus is three-pronged, supporting participation in the areas of family health, family security and feeding families. In the area of family health, Round Table Family Charities will benefit groups aligned with helping children who have medical challenges and their families, such as Children's Miracle Network and Children's Hospital Oakland. Within family security, the group will support organizations that ensure families are secure with a roof over their head. Finally, within the realm of feeding families, Round Table Family Charities will work with organizations that provide food to families less fortunate.
In exploring ways to increase its support of families in the communities it serves, Round Table Pizza learned that its employees wished they had more time to volunteer in their communities. However, Round Table Pizza employees, as with many families today, found it difficult to volunteer meaningful time given the demands of their jobs, families, school, and other significant commitments in their lives.
In order to further both the company's and it's employees' commitment to their communities, Round Table Pizza is providing all corporate employees and restaurant managers two paid days for volunteer work in their communities.
