Uncle and Nephew Entrepreneurial Franchise Team To Build Six Captain D's Restaurants
Posted on: 05/09/2006
Veteran quick service and quick service casual restaurant operators Denny Cole and his nephew Jason Cole have signed an agreement to open six franchises of the Captain D's Seafood Restaurants, a pioneer in the quick service casual seafood dining category.
The new units will be located in three North Carolina counties: Iredell, Forsyth and Winston-Salem, with the first scheduled to open in Mocksville by the end of 2006-early 2007.
Mike Pearce, Captain D's, LLC, vice president franchise development, announced the expansion agreement.
Cole, a retired certified public accountant, is a 21-year veteran in operating Burger King Restaurants and KFC units with his nephew Jason, a graduate of North Carolina State University. Cole is a graduate of Georgia Southern University. According to Cole, he was looking to expand his operation and Captain D's offered a great opportunity.
He said the Mocksville unit, located 17 miles east of Statesville in the middle of the state, will be the first of six planned over the next five years through the agreement. According to Pearce, the North Carolina opening will help Captain D's remain on course for another record setting year for the 35-year-old seafood restaurant organization. In 2005, the company opened 20 restaurants and another 40 openings are planned for 2006.
Captain D's offers a menu of seafood featuring its signature dish of hand cut and hand battered fish, along with baked or broiled fish, shrimp, chicken and home-style side dishes.
There are nearly 600 Captain D's Restaurants in 25 United States and military bases in the United States and overseas. Captain D's first international franchise in Trinidad opened earlier this year.
